As I approached the unusual grove of trees, I sensed the existence of something ancient. My breathing had become labored. Feeling like I was being watched, I felt the hair on the back of my neck stand up. The circle of trees seems to sprout out of nowhere in the middle of the forest, each growing in a different direction. The center was covered by the same thick layer of leaves that covered the entire forest.   I  had no idea what was drawing me towards the stand of trees.
I approached it still wanting desperately to run in another direction.

Stepping between the nearest set of trees, the gentle breeze suddenly stopped. There was no movement. None. Even the leaves in the trees above me stopped mid-movement.
Silence, as I’d never experienced, came over the entire forest.
The leaves on the ground in front of me began to move on their own accord.
They slowly parted from the center of the circle of trees leaving bare dirt behind them.  Minutes later, the leaves were neatly piled up in a neat rim around the outer edge of the trees.
I stepped into the circle of dirt.
 The icy quiet continued.
In the center of the dirt was a door size of a manhole cover.

Kneeling in front of the door, I touched it.
A small steel handle materialized from the bare wood.
It was as solid as anything I’d ever touched.  I gave it a jank.
The wooden door gave way much easier than I had expected.
Flipped up in my face, Flopping back on the dirt behind it.
I stared at a dark hole in the ground.
Peered into the blackness.  I Pick up a small pebble and dropped it into the hole.  It disappeared into blackness.
Listening for a sound.  Nothing. Not sound of it hitting water or dirt. A  heavier and bigger stone went into the darkness.
Still no sound from below.
Shrugging my shoulders, I knew I was going to do all along.
Sitting down with my legs over the edge. I lowered myself into the hole.

As dark clouds gathered over the “City of Lights,” I wondered what the next twenty-four hours would bring.Scanning the skies above the landscape of the buildings.  I hunkered down on the rooftop. Trying to say out of sight of the drones that randomly flew over the city. . They were looking for me. I was about to cause trouble.
A cloud moved to reveal a drone hiding in a cloud. I ducked behind one of the big air-conditioning units that dotted the roof of the building. The drone moved on.
They had masked my thermal presence for the moment.
As soon as I saw it heading off in another direction I bolted for the door.
A quick zap of my laser easily melted the lock.
I wasn’t supposed to be here. It was a completely automated server farm.
The big air cooling units on the roof kept an army of servers in option operating temperatures.
Zappin more locks,  I found the main floor. The main control rooms. One of the few places humans worked regularly. I knew there would be no one in the building for the next several days.
The locks I zapped would be sending alarm bells off, except that they wouldn’t be. Because of the frequency jammer I had.  I found the rooms I was looking for. The locks on the doors required biometric access to open. I held up the biometric scanner bypassed security.
I found the terminal I was looking for. I had to bypass more security. Once in, I plugged in my USB drive. Punching a few codes in I let the program do its work.
Within thirty seconds it had copied the program into the main drive and embedded itself into the computer basic code.
Pulling the USB,  I reset the computer.  The computer begins to reprogram itself . By the time I got out of the building, the drones had begun firing on their boss. The uprising had begun.

"Did you summon me?"He glanced at him and nodded approvingly.
“I see you brought your toys.” The man nervously adjusted the large gun in his arms. Careful to keep it pointed towards the floor.
“Err yeah, I assumed you wanted full battle gear. Sir.”
“Oh yeah, right, I did.  I have a special job for you.”
“Oh, what’s that Sir?” He was suddenly very nervous.

The chancellor of the planet shifted round in his chair behind his big desk. Playing with a pen, then a paperclip, that had randomly appeared from the pile of clips on his desk.
Then to put off further what he had to tell him. He took a long drink for his stone-cold coffee. He hated the coffee, but it was better than saying what he had to
Finely he ran out of excuses.
“I have escort mission for. I need you to transport some people  for me.”
He sighed a breath of relief, at least he wasn’t going into the War Zone.

“Transport who? Where?”  Transport was generally routine and fairly easy and usually boring work.   He was suddenly not so nervous.
“It’s like this;  I have some friends who want to go shopping.”
“Shopping Sir?” Suddenly he was nervous again.

“Yeah, and they’re as VIP as you can get. So they pretty much get what they want.”
Suddenly it began to dawn on him, What his transport mission was.
“Err  Who what were when  Sir”
“This afternoon at 1400 hours, at the main gate, The caravan consists of 10 wives of diplomats and their assorted kids. And they  want to go to the main shopping center on the other side of town.”
The only problem was there a War Zone between here then the shopping center.
